When George Smith began distilling, The Glenlivet had no age statements and he selected whisky from casks of a range of ages. The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve single malt scotch whisky has replicated this freedom with selecting whisky from a variety of traditional aged oak casks. The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve is first matured in Traditional Oak cask and then in American first fill oak cask. American first-fill oak casks are those that have never been used to mature whisky. Selective use of these casks provides a smooth, creamy sweetness that mingles harmoniously with the delicate flavours and complex fruity tones already present in the whisky. The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve is Pale Gold in colour and has aromas of citrus fruits and sweet orange. The taste is creamy sweetness and zesty with fruits, pear, and toffee apples.
